This month we are looking at Marian Jago’s chapter ‘Sitting In and Subbing Out: The Gig Economy of 1960s New York’ from The Routledge Companion to Jazz Studies (2018). Thursday the 25th of April at 2pm, room D204, D Block, St. Patrick's Campus, Dublin City University. Do come!

Marion Jago's paper on the gig economy of 1960s New York is a fascinating look at how jazz musicians survived day-to-day in what is often considered a golden age of jazz. Also, I never knew a NY 'club date' was parlance for basically not a 'jazz club date'. We discuss tomorrow!
