We share the grave concern expressed by our comrades in SDLP LGBT+ about the comments from the new The Labour Party Health Secretary, Wes Streeting, regarding puberty blockers. This move, if enacted, will greatly affect our trans siblings across our communities and must be reconsidered.

A permanent ban on puberty blockers will devastate the lives of so many trans people. So many trans people, and their families, are terrified right now, with very few journalists even willing to hear them. And that terror has been caused by a Labour government. Shameful.

Just in case you want to know what consultation was done with trans people, their families, or organisations representing them, before the ban on trans people using puberty blockers was introduced, the answer is 'none' because the Secretary of State told them not to.
