Another reason why I don’t run marathons

I’m not sure how many years this poster was on my bedroom wall, but Ryne Sandberg became my favorite player ever while I watched the Cubs in the afternoons on WGN, especially that 1984 MVP season. RIP Ryno, thank you for the all the great childhood memories.

For pretty much the entire decade of the 80’s, these two men defined my afternoons from April through September (with a couple of Octobers thrown in). Definitely the good ole days for me.

I admit I’m one of those old guys who thinks baseball was better when I was growing up. But I think we can all objectively agree that this the pinnacle of baseball cards.

When you list baseball players who have had the biggest influence on the modern game, you probably have to start with this guy.

Jon got to spar last week against a grown man and learned a valuable lesson about not moving and dropping those hands. Proud that he did not let getting smoked knock him down or keep him from fighting on.

One day away from the game many have been waiting decades to see. I don’t really care about the outcome of the game, I’m just glad it is finally happening.
