Expressing depth with flat an limited colours is a challenge. The most obvious tool is to exaggerate size different between close and far away. A more subtle touch is difference in line texture.

It's also a great way to kick open the door of the CTRL+Z perfectionist cage that drawing software seduces you into.

I used to hate drawing water. I'm starting to appreciate it more. But not as much as swimming in it.

I wrote a story! Check it out now!

Another good thing about drawing and synthesizing water is that it forces you to crystalize shapes of pure light and distortion. A really good way to make you think in shapes and and leave presuppositions of matter behind.

Both reading and drawing the cover for this book was a pleasure. Read it! It takes you down a most unexpected trail. I'd sum it up as an audacious sucker punch best enjoyed in the evening.

You guys really have given it everything with the M.R. James competition, trying to narrow each story down to a final 2 is proving hard work. Thank you to everyone who submitted! We are hoping to let all winners know by the end of April and make announcements at the start of May
