Yesterday,7 of Portaferry volunteer crew members along with crew members from stations across Ireland unfurl giant water safety flags on the pitch of Croke Park before the All-Ireland Senior Hurling semi-final match between Wexford and Tipperary at Croke Park in Dublin.

Portaferry RNLI launched last night at 9:42pm to reports of a boat broken down East of Strangford BarBouy. When on scene, the lifeboat crew established tow to the 21ft boat that had suffered engine failure after being out fishing,the lifeboat towed the vessel to Portaferry marina

Portaferry RNLI launched at 3:40pm to reports of a 8m yacht aground on Limestone Rock. The crew recovered a male and female and took ashore to Ringhaddy. The crew also deployed the yachts anchor and departed the scene. The crew returned to station at 4:50pm.

This week has seen our crew members complete an intensive 4 day training & assessment programme,designed to allow our crew to be trained and then be assessed. A unique opportunity for our crew to gain useful experience while still complying to covid regulations.
