On this day on 14 April 1931 the 2nd Spanish Republic was declared. Its arrival was greeted with euphoria by progressive Spain, including intially by anarchist masses. Its greatest achievement: creating some 16,000 schools until crushed by Franco +his Nazi-fascist allies in 1939

John Glass 'the man to whom Celtic owes its very existence'.

Brother Walfrid founded Celtic, but Glass established it.

He built the first Celtic Park and got the players for the first ever team, including Willie Maley and James Kelly.
