Finished my #20booksofsummer24 with 3 weeks to spare. Favourites were William Trevor, Anita Brookner, Annie Proulx, James Baldwin, John Le Carré, Percival Everett.. But enjoyed pretty much all of them. Thanks to Cathy Brown for organising.

Today's book haul. Despite having a ridiculous backlog of books on my tbr, I somehow ended up with 9 more today before midday. I think I have a problem. Have retired to the pub for a pint in an effort to stop myself buying more.

Books read in August. Top month. Nothing I didn't enjoy but favourites were Benjamin Myers terrific Northern Soul novel, #JenniFagan harrowing memoir, Noémi Kiss-Deáki brilliant Mary & The Rabbit Dream, and #PercivalEverett who can do no wrong.

Always a great day when a new Bluemoose Books book turns up. And it looks handsome. Hopefully will finish what I'm reading by weekend, so I can get stuck in. Looks and sounds great Paul Scraton
