Back in Trench 2 at the Flag Fen Archaeology Park evaluation we’re starting to investigate a second layer of wood and timbers now that the upper deposit has been recorded and removed. We’re excited to see what we’re going to find!
We’ve improvised a bit of shelter on the Flag Fen Archaeology Park evaluation to help with the light levels in Trench 2. The low winter light can make it really difficult when working with archaeology. Making conditions a little more consistent can be a big help when tackling complicated areas.
In Trench 3 we’ve removed several of the upright timbers that make up the Flag Fen Archaeology Park post alignment. This post is most likely oak and still has the beautifully shaped tip, complete with the impressions left behind by the axes that made it.
OA and Cambridge Archaeological Unit collaborated on refitting pottery sherds found at the Gilden Way Neolithic causewayed enclosure in #Harlow #Essex. See how the team worked on the refit hosted @Cambridge_SHSS at the link below oxfordarchaeology.com/news/harlow-po… 1/4
We’ve really enjoyed collaborating with Oxford Archaeology on this fantastic project examining over 8,000 sherds of pottery from a causewayed enclosure. More info here ow.ly/7uJt50P33oq
