A fun question for Friday is who's going to go bust first - the UK, or France? The correct (if boring) answer is almost certainly 'neither'. But FWIW, the markets say it's France: the implied probability of a French default (based on CDS rates) is about twice as high the UK...

Great British Energy. £8 billion of taxpayers’ money. £350,000 salary for its Chief Executive. And nobody has a clue what it’s meant to do. What a pointless boondoggle. It should be canned.

We have a Labour government trying to tax us into oblivion while a Labour Minister openly dodges tax We have a Labour government going against the people by re-opening asylum hotels while the families of senior Labour advisors happen to rake in millions from the hotels We have

This feels like a significant/clarifying moment. Not sure Gov know what it's unleashed. A gross breach of social contract that's inciting fury. Don't blame judges per se but Labour who've compromised ideal of judicial independence by using courts to wage Lawfare against voters.

The Appeal Court judge who overturned the closure of the Epping migrant hotel, David Bean, was a founder of Matrix Chambers, a former treasurer of the Society of Labour Lawyers and a former chairman of the Fabian Society. See the problem?

A mark of how irrelevant the Church of England has become in our national life is the fact that it has been without an archbishop of Canterbury for eight months, and nobody seems to have noticed.

A senior tax lawyer says; “What was Rayner doing using a trust to try and exploit a loophole ( that they wrongly perceived to exist ) to claim a second home as a first home and recycle trust monies to fund it ? The office of the public guardian should be intervening.”

ABSOLUTE GOLD: A comment from a Telegraph reader 👇 All Rayner has done was ask her cabinet colleagues for advice. She started with the ex transport minister but then realised she was a fraudster, she tried the chancellor for economic advice, however she lied on her CV, so she

Dan - I consider you a friend and you and I go way back. But I’m concerned that you have casually dissed a media event I am involved with as “bonkers”. Did you listen to Lucy Connolly’s interview today with myself and Allison Pearson ? Have you clocked that Lucy Connolly lost

I agree with Mike Huckerbee. Thornberry's analysis and interpretation of the Huckerbee interview was disingenuous in the extreme. #BBCLauraK
