Back to HF after a long break and it’s great thanks to a little Xiegu G90. Just wish my EFHW performed better but it’s stuck up at 4M AGL in a conifer. #hamradio #rsgb

Finally got round to trying my V4 HF inflatable antenna. Just had a QSO with an EA station 56 report with the antenna hung from a curtain pole! 10 watts from the G90 and all working FB! #hamradio RadioGeeks_UK

I’ve tried my best to like new hi tech radios but I keep going back to the older stuff. Just makes me happy twiddling knobs and pushes buttons. I even like a bit of VFO drift!

Got to love when your playing pink floyd on a radiogram you’ve restored and a surprise sticker falls out of the sleeve which I never new was there!

I’ve just spent hours replacing the blown bulbs in my FT101ZD with leds. Managed to squeeze them into the front of the VFO without removing it took ages using tweezers to get them into the tiny grommets. All works but not sure I like the colour!

Tonight I am mainly making a simple RF probe with an OA91 germanium diode. I think it may work to help me neutralise the new valves in my Yaesu FT101ZD.

A nice addition to my collection of 1980s radios a TenTec Argosy 525D in very nice condition. Needed some minor work to get the display on frequency and the usual liberal dosage of contact cleaner but is working well and a lovely RX it has too! 73

Quite happy with the shack now, the other radios (mainly Kenwood/Trio) are waiting some work but these are my daily drivers. 73

Well that’s the Yaesu 767GX fixed two new pots installed and I now have a fully working speech processor and monitor so can actually hear my side tone when working CW. If anyone has ever worked on one of these rigs you’ll know what a PITA it is to open up took ages!
