.RCPCH' new report couldn't be clearer: 🔥 Wood burning is severely affecting children's health ⚖️ Those most affected are those who contribute least to the problem 🚫 Wood burning must be phased out, especially in urban areas theguardian.com/society/2024/s…

Worth saying, I absolutely share Andy Burnham's desire to see capacity relief on the WCML and in central Manchester. I just think the political call to let others weave engineering myths into a "we can do this cheaper" narrative is the wrong one.

This makes for sobering reading. "Exposure to air pollution is the second leading risk factor for death in children under 5, both globally and in the UK" Levenshulme Councillors

Levenshulme Station car park. It's a problem that's getting worse, like many of the familiar dumping grounds in our area. So, please Levenshulme Councillors tell us what your "cocktail of solutions" are and when - if ever- they will improve the situation? Manchester City Council MCC Levenshulme

protonsforbreakfast.wordpress.com/2024/09/21/sma… Friends, here are a few reflections on Heat Geek 's new Mini Heat Store. There's quite a large number of medium-sized homes where it could make a heat-pump installation viable. Oh, and it's pink!

Depressing reflection of media priorities that focus is all on frocks & football tickets, rather than on real obscenity - that Labour is accused of receiving £4m, its largest-ever donation, from a tax haven-based hedge fund with shares in oil and arms #bbclaurak openDemocracy

Euston is straight up dangerous. What is the logic of only showing trains on one board when you HAVE THREE? Then there is a terrifying crush once platforms announced last minute (rugby train has changed twice). It's the fucking hellmouth TfL

The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility. Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it. #CityMakingMath HT Melissa & Chris Bruntlett

I'm still waiting for SYSTRA UK & Ireland and @NetworkRail to apologise for sacking me after I spoke about this in an interview. Meanwhile, things aren't getting better at Euston and they look more and more ridiculous. #EustonWeHaveAProblem standard.co.uk/news/transport…

I look forward to Active Travel England working with researchers and activists to develop policy and guidance. Would be great to see more than a rebranding of existing policies. Much work to be done to understand how low traffic needs to be for streets to genuinely work for children.

Prediction: There will soon be a disaster at the dangerous binfire that is Euston Station. There will be a public inquiry. Toby Jones will star in the ITV drama. Lessons will be learned, they'll say. Here's an idea. How about implementing the lessons now before it's too late?

Great news (I jest) for Aberdeen: it is going to host the new private equity hedge fund called GB Energy that will never generate a thing or supply a single watt of power to anyone. They applauded Starmer for that in Liverpool.

On Channel 4 News at #LPC24, I emphasised that stability alone doesn't generate growth or competitiveness. We need an increase in both public and private investment in the UK to tackle climate change, health inequities and the digital divide.
