Today is the first Sunday of Advent, and the first Sunday of a new liturgical year for the Church. It is a time of preparation for the coming of the Lord. Coming Jesus, teach us to live in the present moment, enjoying the anticipation of your coming again as much as your arrival.

On this second Sunday of Advent, we light a purple candle to represent faith. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. John 12:27

Today is the Second Sunday of Advent. During the season of Advent, St. John the Baptist's message of repentance is particularly appropriate. As John's message prepared the way for Jesus, we, too are called to prepare ourselves for Jesus' coming.
