Delivery services are so often derided for being careless and inefficient. Our postman deserves special mention for his friendly service and common sense. After I'd missed a delivery, he was driving back, spotted my car had returned so called again to deliver a package of LPs.

Yesterday we were in the congregation for the service at Wadhurst, followed by some playing of Walker reworking of the Hill Norman & Beard.

When the organ remained problematic, even after an hour or more curing ciphers, it was fortunate Langport's other Anglican building offered the use of their venue. It was quite a programme to do on a small instrument with no registration aids.

Next Saturday at 3pm, I'll be playing the new (2023) Henry Groves organ at the Church of the Ascension in Salford. Not surprisingly, the church is on Ascension Road, Lower Broughton and nearby parking is usually easy.

An enjoyable afternoon starting with choral evensong at St George's Stockport, followed by filming David Price's recital.

Blackburn Cathedral have launched their third composition competition. Entries should be an organ piece suitable for use as an Advent processional. Judges will be Professor Paul Mealor Dr. Colin Walsh and John Hosking. Full details are in the image.
