Calling all Clinicians! Are you aware of our network? We welcome those who want to support national infectious disease surveillance. High quality data, virology, and serology enable high quality surveillance. orchid.phc.ox.ac.uk/surveillance ORCHID Royal College of General Practitioners UK Health Security Agency
Trisha Greenhalgh Thanks for your support Trisha Greenhalgh interested practices, particularly those interested in virology sampling - which improves our understanding of disease and antimicrobial stewardship, please contact ORCHID or orchid.phc.ox.ac.uk/surveillance
This week's Research & Surveillance Centre (RSC) Weekly Return was largest ever >15 million (15,354,729). Thanks to GPs & patients who share pseudonymised data, a large population lets us study smaller risk groups. The RSC is still seeing a week-on-week rise in COVID-19, though levels remain low. Please can RSC practices Royal College of General Practitioners ORCHID redouble their efforts to take virology samples this summer so we and UK Health Security Agency can better understand the pattern of infection and spread.
Thanks Kamila Hawthorne for supporting the RSC in the weekly @RCGP update. Fantastic GPs colleagues share pseudonymised data, this week is our largest ever (>15 million). However, we need more virology samples, 1,000 per week. Interested contact [email protected]
GP colleagues, who can help us reach our 1,000 virology specimens per week for respiratory disease surveillance please contact: [email protected] Larger sample numbers will help us better understand these trends. Main viruses circulating at present are rhinovirus and COVID-19. Rhinovirus causes the common cold and can cause wheezy illnesses in children or who have asthma. COVID-19 is well known! Royal College of General Practitioners Clinical Informatics UK Health Security Agency we greatly appreciate GPs who do virology sampling, thanks all!
The protocol for our sentinel surveillance ambitions is at: doi.org/10.2196/prepri… Thanks as ever to GPs who share data. Our goal for the coming winter is 1,000 virology samples per week, to better understand NHS winter pressures Royal College of General Practitioners Clinical Informatics ORCHID Comments welcome.
Another fantastic contribution of @RCGP Research & Surveillance Centre (RSC) practices & their patients who volunteered to provide serology samples - Diphtheria immunity remains fine in the UK population authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S02… A collaboration of Clinical Informatics UK Health Security Agency ORCHID
Well done to the Royal College of General Practitioners Research and Surveillance Centre (RSC) sentinel general practice that detected the first UK case of a new "swine flu" strain! Great to see our fantastic @RCGP RSC, sentinel network, given the chance to report our successes and challenges across the pandemic at thelancet.com/journals/lanin… A pleasure to work with GP colleagues & UK Health Security Agency, Clinical Informatics and ORCHID to deliver our service.
COVID-19 is the predominant circulating virus detected by the @RCGP RSC - sentinel network - in England. Thanks to our excellent practices for collecting data and samples and colleagues OxPrimaryCareSci UK Health Security Agency Predominantly in adult age-bands.
Good to see this in print and to share the learnings from the PANORAMIC study relevant to primary care research… and specifically those related to the delivery of trials in primary care RCGP APEx The Centre for Research Equity Dr Mahendra G Patel OBE 🕉 OxPrimaryCareSci #panoramic #primarycareresearch
