Update- the custody court finished at 2220 with the final accused persons arriving in the building at 2200 after the police organised transport for them. Completely unacceptable that everyone else is having to work twice as long to compensate for GeoAmy’s failings.

Here's the front page of tomorrow's The Herald. Day one of our look at legal aid in Scotland. We're leading on the looming demographic crisis, with new figures showing more than a third of legal aid lawyers will hit retirement age in the next decade.

The crisis in criminal legal aid is very real. Our proposals to sort it cost £10 million, which is less than Scottish Government spent on legal advice to defend itself. It's clear their priorities don't lie with the public.

In the face of ScotGov Justice continued refusal to engage in meaningful talks with the profession, the SSBA has been left with no option but to step up our disruptive action.

Beginning in Glasgow Sheriff Court next month, our members will refuse to engage with the new Summary Case Management scheme. This action will then roll out as the scheme is introduced in each jurisdiction, with criminal bars throughout Scotland confirming their support.
