๐ฆ๐ก๏ธ As the ocean heats, sharks are abandoning coral reefs. Sharks play a vital role in maintaining healthy habitats, & their absence threatens an already struggling ocean. We MUST make a fair & just transition to renewables. For ocean, planet & people. ๐ theguardian.com/environment/arโฆ
๐ด We're going the whole hog to protect our ocean from #BigOil. We've officially filed our legal case in the High Court arguing recent oil licences granted in UK waters were unlawful. Big changes are coming, and we're leading the charge! Find out why ๐ uk.oceana.org/press-releasesโฆ

We won! Planning permission for the UK's first deep coal mine in 30 years has been quashed. The court agreed with Friends of the Earth and KendalTransition that lifetime emissions of the Whitehaven mine (mostly from burning coal) weren't properly considered and approval was unlawful ๐

Our ocean has seasons just like on land! ๐๐ But the #climatecrisis throws them out of sync. Warmer seas disrupt the natural cycles of plankton, the basis of marine food webs, & can cause seasonal "mismatches" with life further up the web.
