Always been a piece of advice I will offer every teacher that comes to me.

Couldn’t agree with this more, having seen it in action at my previous school, and my current school having staff that simply refuse to be “treated like robots” yet complain about poor behaviour…

Wife and I trying to book a summer holiday. Just a cottage somewhere near a beach in Cornwall. We can’t believe how much it costs for a week in Cornwall compared with how you can go abroad for significantly cheaper, travel included. Dreadful state of affairs.

This is a new one! Shall we talk school budgets, first? Or the retention and recruitment crisis? Or the 30+ year old ‘temporary’ classrooms my department teaches in? Or the huge teacher workload since youth services were destroyed by the Conservatives ??

In the last month, 2 acquaintances have passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, one the same age as me. Genuine shocks all round, as you can imagine. I decided that life is simply too short to keep putting things off, so I now get to rock up to school in a 23yo Land Rover. 👌🏼

Tough day today. Parents can be the worst part of this job.
