🎉 “Nibutani Kotan Day” was held on Saturday, July 19! The event took place around #Nibutani Kotan, an area rich in #Ainu cultural spots. Visitors enjoyed performances of traditional Ainu dance, hands-on woodcarving experiences at the Craft Center, and many other activities.

📍In production now! Known for his woodcarving, Ainu craft artist Okamoto Tomoya is now trying something different—he’s currently making a tekunpe (a traditional Ainu-style hand and wrist covering) for himself. He even handwove and embroidered the attus fabric used in this piece.
