I'm reliving and shedding the past daily constantly growing. It's not an easy process but one well worth it when you're walking closer to who you truly deserve to be. Not perfect but deserving of all great things in life physically, emotionally, mentally, and romantically

Imagine criminalizing food and water but not assault weapons.

Imagine calling yourself a "Christian" and thinking following Jesus means giving people weapons and denying them water.

I grew up a hunter and served as an Army Ranger. I didn’t take my deer hunting rifle to Afghanistan, nor did I take my assault rifle deer hunting. Don’t be fooled by the gun lobby. The type of gun matters. Weapons of war have no place in our communities.

I talked to an undergrad this weekend who said they weren't grad school material because their GPA was *only* 3.6. We as a community need to stop peddling this toxic, gate-keeping mentality that only students with perfect grades are worthy of grad school. (1/3)

Did you choose your career, or did you end up in it?

Talk about your struggles with your students. Don't just give general statements. If you can, tell them YOUR stories. Show that yes, everyone gets rejected, has imposter syndrome, messes up, feels like they don't belong, experiences burn out, etc. Normalize these conversations.

some professors will really come out the gate saying "Most students don't pass this class, it's HARD WORK" as if being bad at teaching is something to brag about

be happy where you’re at. make moves with what you got. bloom where you’re planted.

To keep growing, you need to be open to the unfamiliar, even the uncomfortable. And leaning in to your uncomfortable emotions allows you to learn from them. Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is fear walking.

I am having a hard time organizing myself. I had a very very unproductive period of time and I am so behind on so many things. Does anybody have any advice for me on organizing and staying productive OpenAcademics #AcademicChatter
