Another great read by Piet Oudolf, who designed the High Line and this seasonal garden New York Botanical Garden with mostly native plants. We now understand that insects, birds, and mammals rely on native plants for survival. No insects-no food. #plantnatives

Why plant native? Doug Tallamy explains it best "...native insects cannot, or will not, eat alien plants. When native plants disappear, the insects disappear, impoverishing the food source for birds and other animals."
