We introduce LeaseGuard: a Raft-specific lease protocol with a precise spec and fast recovery after crashes. By leveraging Leader Completeness, the log itself becomes the lease, avoiding the need to maintain extra protocol vars/messages. Using log knowledge, LeaseGuard

Managing consistency between services inside Convex is ostensibly hard but we've been designing distributed systems for decades. That's our jam. What *has* been hard is load balancing. We use decentralized load balancing where Conductors pick a Funrun to send a transaction to,

[academic navel-gazing] I was curious what’s been top of mind at the flagship systems conferences (OSDI + SOSP) over the past decade. So I used ChatGPT Research to analyze the last 10 years of papers (718 papers total), classifying them into coarse topic areas. High-level

Marcus Eisele Claude has been running my nanochat experiments since morning. It writes implementations, debugs them with toy examples, writes tests and makes them fail/pass, launches training runs, babysits them by tailing logs and pulling stats from wandb, keeps a running markdown file of

- fine-grained conversation

I rarely like survey papers but this one is an exception, reads really well like a blog and has really good insights all along.

I'm Boris and I created Claude Code. Lots of people have asked how I use Claude Code, so I wanted to show off my setup a bit. My setup might be surprisingly vanilla! Claude Code works great out of the box, so I personally don't customize it much. There is no one correct way to

i finally have the tmux setup of my dreams - vesper theme matching my terminal - fuzzy project sessionizer - option+hjkl to move between panes - sessions persist across reboots - minimal status bar, no clutter thanks claude, back to building
