Most of you know I do the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge every June out of love - no sponsors. However, I'm not beyond accepting a love offering of appreciation! if you are so moved, you can drop something in the plate via cash.me/$musicsermon or Venmo (Naima-Cochrane). Thanks!

The old adage "Just keep livin'" can apply to music, too. Some songs you can't appreciate until either your taste has evolved or you've experienced some things. For Day 16 of the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge, share a song you didn't like as kid or teen, but love as an adult.

God is love, so the purest love songs can easily apply to either the divine or the earthly, it just depends on perspective. For Day 17 of the #BlackMusicMonthChallenge, share a song that could easily be about Jesus OR your boo.

I said this a couple of yrs ago and folks said I was reaching, but Johnny Gill's "Fairweather Friend" is the flip side of "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Thematically it's a perfect match. Even in the video, he's an unseen force interceding on shawty's behalf!
