1. The Creative Writing MFA has been in the US for less than 100 years. 2. Most of your OG BIPOC faves never got an MFA. 3. Most MFAs churn out teachers as opposed to pro writers—so it’s only super beneficial if you want to teach.

4. W/ the internet and social media—you can easily get well-rounded reading lists, workshop experiences, info abt pro writing tools, and a pseudo mentorship via threads, articles, and open-market opportunities. It’s dope if you get one—but you don’t need an MFA to thrive. ✌🏾
