When we think about safe reporting guidelines (for suicide), we consider what should or shouldn't be said. Our new paper shows that even missing info, e.g., the victim's sociodemographic identity, can have harmful and stigmatizing effects. More below from lead author Jay Foriest!

Hate speech and its perceptions are often paradoxical: hate speech surfaces in public online platforms, but how victims experience it is incredibly personal. Our #acl2024 paper adopts a community-sensitive and community-centered approach to detect violence-provoking speech online
