Paracoccus burnerae can produce heavy deformations on fruits at firsts stages that remaine until maturity. Males usually are confused with other mealybug males, with anal cercus & not traslucent wings as P. citri but opposite from D. aberiae with no cercus & traslucent wings.

The spread of the thorny citrus whitefly, Aleurocanthus spiniferus is a fact. Until now it has been found in Greece, France, Croatia & Italy. Their presence on trees not only stains the fruit but also reduces its setting.

Great participation of the SAFWA project at the IOBC-WPRS meeting on Integrated Control in Citrus Fruit Crops, hosted by UJI and co-organized with IRTA. SAFWA played an active role throughout the event, sharing progress on sustainable pest management across the Mediterranean. 🌱

The project presented several contributions, including posters and oral presentations by SAFWA partners. These works highlighted advances in Bt-based biopesticides, and strategies to reduce land and water pollution through safer agricultural practices. 💧🌍

Our results from citrus, olive, pomegranate and tomato trials attracted strong interest. We also shared updates on scale-up processes for new Bt formulations, waste-water reuse in bioprocessing, and farmer training activities—core pillars of SAFWA’s mission. 🔬🍋🍅

IRTA’s Dr. María Teresa Martínez Ferrer, SAFWA partner, served as Convenor of the IOBC-WPRS Working Group, reinforcing the visibility of the project and strengthening collaboration with researchers and technical centres committed to sustainable IPM. 🤝✨
