Yard waste decaying in creeks and rivers decomposes in a process that removes oxygen from the water. Fish and other aquatic life can’t survive in water with low oxygen.

🐾 Hey pet parents! Don’t forget to scoop that poop! 💩 When pet waste is left behind, rain can wash it into our storm drains and pollute local rivers and streams. Let’s keep our water clean and our tails wagging—bag it, trash it, and be a water-friendly neighbor! 💙🐶

This is what happens when you put fat, oils, and grease down the drain. Don’t let it happen to you, and don’t do it to your neighbors. Cool it. Can it. Trash it.

Today is #WorldOceansDay! Remember we may not live next to an ocean but our pollution can flow from the Mississippi River into the Gulf of Mexico and out to the ocean. Do your part and don’t litter.
