Fascinating! My student wrote an essay about not forcing introverts to speak in class and 1 pt was about working memory, so I had to read more! One suggestion in class is giving more time to plan responses and #cooperativelearning

We had a new student come to our Gr 7 class in the middle of our Lord of the Flies unit soooo the students made a quick study guide with quotes and character notes for her!

We’ve been online for the last month so it’s been a while since I’ve been able to see my SS in person! Luckily, I live on campus and it was great fun to hold a paper-making workshop for my on-campus neighbors!

Side effect of having Seek by iNaturalist and iNaturalist is that my phone’s photo album has hundreds of random pictures of leaves and dirt where I’ve try to capture and identify as many species as I can!

Playing homemade #telestrations with our Gr. 8 Mentor Group was a mindful and hilarious exercise! WAB

Once again, my photo library is filled with pictures of plants and critters as we use Seek by iNaturalist during the WAB hide and “seek” #Day9 activity!

I love this photo of our advisory class’s portrait train! Kind of like the telephone game but with drawing. Students feel what is being drawn on their backs while translating that onto the back in front of them!

This is the ‘Upcycling Fashion’ #Day9 activity! We’re being mindful of the resources we use and choosing sustainable fashion. Here, students are learning to use a sewing machine and measure fabric.

Many applications in the classroom. I like that the scanning turns the picture into a document!

While reflecting on a unit we just finished in I&S, we revisited the debatable question: ‘should we search deeply or widely?’ and 2 elbow discussion partners exclaimed in amazement ‘we think SO differently!’ And I think that’s beautiful.

During mentor time, we discussed the scientific research around peer ‘influence’ and how it can lead to new activities which leads to building new pathways in the brain. So we tried building new pathways through this coffee stain activity. Make something new out of a stain!

G6 I&S class today involved ‘surviving’ on the moon and domestication. The unit we are starting is our sustainability unit where students investigate how their actions can have impact on communities and the environment. #12daysofOneNote

I thoroughly enjoyed the pitch presentation the Grade 5s gave for my ‘extreme temperature problem’ for their Shark Tank - How the World Works unit!

As G6 I&S students were brainstorming research questions for their newscast project about bees, we realized that spring was coming alive right in our own backyards. We couldn’t resist taking a look! We saw 🐝 with pollen on their legs and🦋 WAB

The two words I would use to describe Middle School: creativity and color. Both are shown in the #Upcycling Fashion Show that we have been working on for half a year! Congratulations to the students - what a gorgeous display to end our year of learning with.
