Hangul Day was October 9th - it was lovely to have a G1 parent come in to share about the Korean alphabet & to teach our students from around the world how to write their names in 한글. Students proudly displayed their names on their cubbies 🇰🇷 🌍 ✍️ ⭐️ #MultilingualLearners

We enjoyed using the Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM)! Great for developing vocabulary & practicing oral communication, reading, & writing. So many activities can stem from this one strategy! Can be used at any stage of language acquisition #PWIM ⭐️

Writing for a purpose… these G1 writers are practicing their procedural writing skills. ✍️ They wrote how to get ready for a wet recess and then right after that, they followed their own instructions and prepared to go out in the rain to play! ☔️

We learned how to make Korean citron tea 유자차 & wrote the steps how to make it to practice our procedural writing. 🍋 ☕️ 🍯 ⭐️

In G1 our #multilingual students are learning about how to be balanced - looking after our minds & bodies by trying to stay healthy & happy. We read one of my favourite picture books by Monique Gray Smith Monique Gray Smith & wrote about what fills our hearts with happiness. ❤️😊

Learners who are beginning their reading journey can cozy up with ABC stories on Read Along. They'll practice recognizing letters 🔠 and their associated sounds 🔊. The best part? Use as at-home practice or to supplement K-1 lessons! Start reading: goo.gle/3NC0laP

G1 had a language celebration for UN International Home Language Day. Volunteers read a story & led activities in their home languages. We had volunteers sharing Arabic, American Sign Language, Bulgarian, English, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Japanese, Korean, & Mandarin! 🌍🌟

G1 families attended an exciting “Show and Share” showcasing student learning around the theme of identity, diversity, & belonging. Ss used music, books, natural materials, visual arts, tech, & movement to express themselves & share understanding of the unit’s central idea 🌟

Beautiful day for a field trip to the Frankfurt Palmengarten with G1. It was a great way to begin our Sharing the Planet unit for our #MultilingualLearners by providing a rich opportunity for content and language development. 🦋 🌸 ☀️
