As a school administrator, I am fine with teachers playing games with their students, having class parties, and putting on a movie the last couple days before a major break. We should trust teachersโ€™ discretion, and kids deserve to have fun.

If weโ€™re serious about students taking ownership of their learning then we have to normalize talking with kids about their needs, not talking about kids & deciding what we think they need.

Why are we letting 18 yos sub in classrooms, but not letting college students going to school to BE EDUCATORS take open teaching positions in lieu of student teaching?? We learn best by doing. Give them a supervising teacher, require check-ins, & for the love of God pay them.

Please don't remove students from physical education, music, Arts, or other classes to remediate them in other areas. These classes are just as important for overall education and may be their favorite classes and one reason they like school.

5 tips to reduce stress of staff. 1) if asking to meet with them, let them know why. 2) Don't address an issue you have with one person with the whole staff. 3) praise a lot more than you critique 4) less meetings 5) continual encouragement and support

We spend millions to implement research based practices. BUT, we ignore the extensive research that shows how play, recess, & physical activity, can improve focus, self regulation, and on task behavior, as well as academic achievement, interpersonal skills & mental health.

Please donโ€™t respond to entire staff regarding issues of one person. Address these concerns privately with the individual. Handling conflict face to face may not be easy but is key. Responding to all makes the innocent feel like theyโ€™re in trouble & this crushes morale
