A2: I feel like I address many math skills through morning meeting as a review and then I plan a math center using games they learned the year prior to practice those skills as well. Also read aloud are great reviews of reading skills! #EBedchat

A3: I hope they continue to love the persuit of knowledge. Whether it’s from reading or researching the answer to a question. Learn about a new animal or author! Do a summer STEM activity! Just keep their brains thinking and growing! #EBedchat

A4: I had them research some STEM activities they could do over the summer and share them :) they even decorated a summer journal and wrote their first entry! I shared mine with them and how my step daughter and I try to write regularly #EBedchat

A5: I’ll have students make flipgrid intro videos during the summer, Also having some links already available for parents to access with on my teacher webpage: book list, background video to gain some background knowledge on a subject, make game video #EBedchat

My step daughters school made their mascot into a “flat Stanley” project. Kids can take pictures of themselves on trips and reading in various spots and have their parents upload them to their twitter site to stay connected over the summer. #EBedchat Ramtown

A6: the library has so many wonderful plans for the summer! I definitely encourage the kids to attend! Also I show them Google Earth a lot to encourage field trips (even virtual) #EBedchat

A7: again I feel like we can make a direct link on our teacher websites to various community calendars of events. I also send out blasts to parents about specific events I know the kids would be interested in (like reading to dogs EastBrunswickLibrary #EBedchat

My favorite thing to do on the first day is read to the kids. So simple but I love it! Builds a love of reading from the start, a little pre assessment front talking about the book, and you can read with silly expressions! #EBedchat
