As Teacher Appreciation week nears, understand we have a teacher shortage because we have an attrition crisis. Teachers are leaving in droves because they don’t feel supported, valued, & they are simply burnt out. We need to take care of our teachers more than one week a year.

I’m fairly confident that no teacher or administrator has the time during the day to call home just to lie about something a child did.

In 2018, more teachers left the profession than any other year prior. A year later, 2019, that number was surpassed. In 2020, that record was again surpassed. In 2021, AGAIN. It’s rarely spoken of as the emergency it is. Teaching is simply an unsustainable career for many.

Grade 7 Razz Cluster at Barrington Middle spent Tuesday morning, June 6, turning BMS Library Media Center into a wax museum! Wax museums are immersive learning experiences that require lots of hard work. Kudos to Razz students and teachers for today's phenomenal exhibit! Between all of this instability caused by the closure of the Washington Bridge, my sympathy is for the working people of our state who have no option to work from home and have to endure hours of traffic for a job that does not pay them enough to keep up with the cost of living..
