My father (on right) with his crew-mates on their fishing boat in Harris in the 1950s. Fishing & related industries have long been a lifeblood of our island communities. Not smart policy or politics to take a wrecking ball to them via Highly Protected Marine Area designations.

Disappointed in the Green's complete lack of understanding about coastal and island communities but even more disappointed by their seeming determination not to listen or learn. I had hoped you were better than this patrickharvie.

Caitlin || She/Her || 🐋🌊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Jamie McIntyre If communities don't have to be sacrificed... the government shouldn't be issuing proposals that would sacrifice communities 🤷‍♂️ If there's plenty evidence, it's even more frustrating that they haven't bothered to mention any of it in the consultation.

We've sent 5,000 people to sayNOtoHPMA.com in the last three days. Let's get this retweeted and send some more! Highly Protected Marine Areas are a real threat to already fragile communities. Say NO to HPMA. @Skipinnish

Philip Coghill (@philcoghill) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Julie McKenzie @Pauline_Toole @AngusMacNeilSNP The fact the issue requires scientifically backed consultation makes the distinct lack of scientific evidence in the consultation all the more frustrating. There may well be scientific evidence, but the consultation didn't use it, as others who are pro HPMA have pointed out

Absolutely spot on Calum MacLeod 🙌 "...demands an approach that enables island communities to be front and centre in the sustainable stewardship of natural resources, rather than passive recipients of top down designations"

Don't know what we would have done without the emergency service response to a fire in one of our much loved local businesses last week. Give SFRS Argyll & Bute, E &W Dumbartonshire a follow. x.com/abewdhq?t=ynBN…

Not sure if there has been too much in the way of press about this, but I see that the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2016 Part 5 buyout scheme put forward by North Queensferry Community Trust has received healthy backing in a local ballot. canva.com/design/DAFgLDj…

Market in crofts needs regulated Andrew Thin Crofting Commission - 4 acre croft with house just sold locally for o/o £430,000. Particulars don't make *any* mention of crofting duties. IMO this should be mandatory. But do suggest there's 'scope for further development'.
