Today, we learned about how our new hydroponic garden works and even harvested our first batch of lettuce! Thanks, @RuskTeach!!! We can’t wait to see the large scale version of this in our Dining Commons and to eat what we grow! #SchooltoTable #WeAreFarmers Discovery APS
Grade 4 original BrainPOP filming continues today with Prarthana Appaiah reading classes. Beep beep! Discovery APS @RuskTeach @MsBlakesClass

Looking for seeds and different dispersal techniques on our Friday nature walk! Discovery APS
Before, during, and after. Check out our amazing, nutrient-rich garden beds! Ready for our 4th graders to get composting and planting next week! Thanks for the inspiring seminar this summer, @JennySeydel #happyplantlady Discovery APS @jvincent_aps Green Schools National Network
Today, we started our very own compost pile in our Discovery APS garden. Students brought in “greens” from home and searched for “browns” around our campus. #apsgreen Green Schools National Network Kate Annamreddy @WinesinvaReads
...aaand we got to touch, feel, and smell a fresh lot of compost so that we know what to expect when the browns and greens in our own compost pile have broken down. We mixed this “black gold” into our raised garden beds. Tomorrow, we plant! #apsgreen Discovery APS
On Green Day yesterday, 4th graders cleaned up our campus to keep trash from entering our watershed. They also completed the NWF EcoSchools U.S. audit by testing the pH level and temperature of the soil and water in our schoolyard habitat. Green Schools National Network Discovery APS #APSgreen
We’ve learned about plants, their parts, and their needs by working in our outdoor garden. We’ve researched large scale farming and hydroponic farming. This week, after a quarter packed with learning, we were FINALLY able to get started on our hydroponic system Discovery APS
Then, we tracked growth. We can’t wait for all of these seeds to germinate! Next up: creating a nutrient solution. #yayscience #happyplantlady #happyplantkids Discovery APS
Had an extremely successful first harvest! Can’t wait to have the freshest salad for lunch in our Discovery APS cafeteria! Green Schools National Network Fork Farms
Oh hey, click on it! We know both of those teachers! Prarthana Appaiah @jvincent_aps
Our 4th graders produced so many greens in our Discovery APS hydroponic garden! We had enough to serve in our cafeteria for the next two weeks AND we were able to donate a full, large cooler of greens to an organization (@ASPANlink) we care deeply about Fork Farms #dogoodfeelgood
We finally got to apply all that we’ve learned about force, motion, potential and kinetic energy, velocity, and friction in our science roller coaster lab today! Discovery APS
