This is such a creative way to combine writing in language arts and geography! Students read "Oh the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss, and answer the “5 Ws + 1 H” of a place they would like to travel in the world! 🛬 pin.it/6cj4Pim via @pinterest

This "If I found a pot of gold..." activity is a fun writing activity that students can get creative with. I would enjoy reading all of the different responses! It's also perfect activity Saint Patricks Day, coming up in a few days. 🍀 pin.it/6MDEdLO via @pinterest

The Power of Reading with Shang Qu is an inspirational Ted Talk. She discusses her passion for reading and what it means to her. A great resource to share with your students and have them write their own reflection on what reading means to them! youtu.be/9fLlkOMrMq4

Such a fun idea to introduce students to a poetry unit! Students decorate their own "poem in your pocket" and then they find a poem that they love and place it inside for others to read. It would be a great activity to put on display! pin.it/dOTT7ri via @pinterest

A good article with tips to prepare students for presentations. Presenting can be nerve-racking for all students, but they all have to do it throughout their education. Therefore it is best that we can prepare them so they can have continued success! litinfocus.com/preparing-stud…

These story jars could be a great literacy activity for any novel study. Students bring in or make some small items to put in their jar that are related to the theme of the story or parts of the plot! pin.it/3Dap9Kj via @pinterest

These character analysis biographies are an interactive activity that will get your students excited about character analysis for any of their novels. Students get to draw the character and write: quotes, traits, strengths, descriptions, etc!

A quick and fun way to get vocabulary in! A mystery word is in the blue envelope. Each day a new clue is added: a synonym, an antonym, examples or using it in a sentence. Students have the chance to guess what the word is. pin.it/6uutkNy via @pinterest

I prefer interactive read alouds as they engage students throughout the entirety of the story with different thought provoking discussions. This article addresses interactive read-alouds and their importance. My personal favourite is "The Bad Seed!" pin.it/7es0s8K

I love these themed sensory stations from goodnightfox.com Sensory play is vital for developing children's senses and improving their cognitive, physical, and emotional skills. Kindergarten students would LOVE this, you could have a new theme each month. 🩶 @EY_uwindsor

This is why it is so important to intervene early on for young children! We have a duty as teachers to try our best and get our students where they need to be!📚

I brought in a coconut to my kindergarten students today! They were so intrigued! They passed it around, touched it and guessed what was inside before we cracked it open and tasted it! It was a sensory-filled and enjoyable experience that they loved!🥥@EY_uwindsor

Such a creative idea for teaching phonics! You could have this activity a literacy station and tie it into your UFLI for the week!

I am realizing how beneficial it is to take a step back and let the children do it themselves. In kindergarten, I want to help them zip up their coats or clean up their centres but it holds them back. Taking a step back lately has made me realize they are capable! @EY_uwindsor

Love this idea, this would be great for a healthy eating centre. There are lots of domains being targeted. A really great way to get the students interested in making healthy choices!

Today we went on a nature walk. It's so interesting to see how enthralled the kids are with nature! They noticed that the weather was changing and that the ground was "squishy." They were picking up leaves, pinecones and sticks asking if Spring is on the way! @EY_uwindsor 🌻☀️

We read a fun book called 'Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes." After the kids got to colour their "shoes" and write the colour. We got some pretty creative ideas, especially the "rainbow shoes." 🌈

We spent most of the morning building "marble towers." It was interesting seeing the kids go through trial and error with their towers as they were building. Not to mention the different designs they created. Some even combined their towers! @EY_uwindsor
