I tell my two boys to recognize and appreciate fleeting moments because you never know when you'll experience them again. Last time I was able to capture the Aurora Borealis in Raleigh, I wouldn't have a kid until 10 years later. Now that kid IS 10 years old.

Faint green and purple Aurora glow on the northern horizon over downtown Raleigh around 3:30 AM. These weren't as bright as the those visible around 9:45 PM. Untimely clouds blocked the view for most right after dark. Here's hoping tonight offers another opportunity.

This is a single exposure from yesterday's eclipse. When processed to bring up the shadows and reduce the highlights, the moon itself becomes visible.
