ICYMI: @NshBizGarner has been slaying it lately with Nashville Business Journal cover stories. Did you read her compelling deep dive on the attempted rebound of the nation's oldest black-owned bank, in North Nashville? bizj.us/1pvwho

.Memphis City Council is considering a resolution that would keep $5 entry fee in place on Beale Street for the rest of the summer. The fee would be on Friday & Saturday night. Following incidents during Beale Street Music Festival, a $5 was added for select May nights.

"Bluff City Law" will officially be shot in Memphis, confirming what we reported last week. The project could receive about $4.25 million in incentives. Story to come.

Signs & speakers at Memphis City Council advocating for passage of incentives for Graceland. EPE head Joel Weinshanker has been searching for support in Whitehaven for those incentives, which have stalled at council. Graceland has already received about $140 million in tax breaks.

Good morning, I’m at a Memphis Convention Center board meeting. Memphis Tourism has been concocting some new logos to pair with the $200 million in renovations, trying to evoke blues and the river. Here are some pictures:

Now, I’m in Bartlett at the Shelby County Joint Economic & Community Development Board. Gwyn Fisher of TNECD is here presenting about the Memphis Regional Megasite, which has seen an uptick of interest in the past few months, she says. Don’t worry, you will read more about this.

And, finally, I’m here at Benjamin Hooks Library for another MLGW Power Supply Advisory Team meeting. You won’t be reading a meeting story about this, but a piece about a public utility evaluating its options is sort of normal — just not in Tennessee Valley Authority.

In a nutshell, this six-inch thick binder is about how dense, complex and dull MLGW’s study of its power options is. Everyone follows me for the power supply commentary, I know.

From yesterday: Loews, the apparent winner in the Memphis convention center hotel wars, says it never promised anything to its former partner, Townhouse Management Co. (owner of 100 N. Main). bizjournals.com/memphis/news/2…

The incentives involved in this project have two former partners — Loews and THM — and City of Memphis brawling with the owners of the Downtown Sheraton in court. Being able to use a special tax and your local sales tax $$ to pay off your loans is a big deal, it seems.

That really big site northeast of Memphis that Tennessee has spent gobs of 💰💰💰 on is attracting the interest, officials say. bizjournals.com/memphis/news/2…

In Mayor of Memphis’ weekly update email, he touts four years of changes to city services and how his administration has paid for those changes. And, in an election year, he notes something else: taxes have gone down.

Having enough water flowing in America's rivers makes barge shipping possible. Having too much makes it impossible. Right now, there is much, much, much too much. nyti.ms/2R7ZFeY
