Finished my second book of the holidays and I recommend it. Small town life in America with large life themes. Picked it up because I love the writing of the authors giving accolades on the cover and hoped it would be similar. It was.

Enjoyed this book. If James Joyce had used Twitter, his feed might have resembled this narrative. Poignant, quick observations of how many people think their way through their days. Made me think, made me laugh. A different kind of storytelling. I recommend.

My favourite read of the summer. Read mostly in a wet tent in the Lake District at the end of very exhilarating wet days hiking. A 4D reading experience given this book brilliantly tells of several families’ holidays in a cabin park by a very wet and rainy loch in Scotland. Great

What is the worst birthday present for a snake? Piano (no fingers), sunglasses (no ears or nose), mittens (no hands)…lots you could do around this book in class. My favourite from a marathon reading session with a 5 year old at the library this morning. #ourfp

Great to meet up in the pub last night with my long-standing book club. And after a woefully long hiatus, we came back with a double-book bang.

Thanks for this birthday present ⁦@claireant⁩. Just finished. Dangerous reading material for someone who’s just finished a marathon training block and is looking for the next challenge. Although this book parks several runs firmly in the ‘don’t ever try that’ column.

Just finished watching the BBC adaptation of this book with my 10 year old. We both loved it. So well made and thought provoking. We’ve had some great discussions about racism, colonialism, privilege, politics. Really good 👍

Interesting listening about the teaching of fluency in classrooms. I’ve only recently discovered this podcast so am working my way through the back catalogue. Recommend this one ⁦Tim Rasinski⁩ has a lot of practical advice and resources to explore. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/sci…

Looking forward to the Xmas Book Club party tonight with turkey, secret book Santa and this which was a page turner for me. Mexican migrants riding atop a train from Acapulco through Mexico to USA. Several heart in mouth moments. I recommend for an easy unchristmassy read.

And the winner of the Year 4 wintry book vote was…. Nevermoor Looking forward to rereading this with new listeners. And a quote from Zach (9) that made me smile …”PLEASE can we read all the others afterwards?”My teasers must have sold them all well 😄 #ourfp

Year 3&4 at Christ Church school in Ware loved the virtual session with Lenny Henry yesterday. We’ve been reading The Boy With Wings since the start of term and finished today! Here is some feedback from the children. #TheBookofLegends
