Fieldstown Road, just east of the Shady Grove Road intersection, is now closed. Shady Grove Road is open and will remain open at all times throughout the duration of the project. Please be patient and drive carefully as we begin this very important project.

Today I had the opportunity to read to Susan Knight Peacock’s second grade class at Gardendale Elementary School. The kids were awesome, attentive and polite, yet so full of energy. I always enjoy my visits to our schools and never miss an opportunity to connect with the kids.

A great example of regional cooperation. Huge improvements to our roads and parking areas at Gardendale Elementary and Bragg. Thank you Commissioner Joe Knight, Superintendent Craig Pouncey, Board President Oscar Mann and Neal Underwood for working with me to get this done!

Beginning tomorrow, October 17, we will be accepting non perishable food items and supplies for those in need in the Panama City Beach area. You can drop these items off anytime that the Civic Center is open for the next three weeks, concluding on Election Day, November 6.

A big day for these young ladies, GHS and our entire community as the 6A Softball State Championship will be decided. Their first game will be at 12:30 with the championship game slated for 5:45. “Girls, we are with you. It is your time. Be Strong and Do It!” GO ROCKETS!!

At 1:15 today our girls will play in the Class 6A championship game vs Buckhorn. They have fought so hard all year to get to this game. To the team, “Girls, our entire community is so proud of you. As it says in the scripture, Be Strong and Do It!” #gorockets #webelieveinyou

At last night’s council meeting, we presented a proclamation to a very special young man, Caleb Mangram. After finding out that his neighbor was diagnosed with cancer, he took it upon his self to cut his grass. How do we change the world? One random act of kindness at a time.

This morning, in a ceremony at city hall, I presented a proclamation to Chief Walker, designating tomorrow, January 9, as National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in the City of Gardendale. As I read the words aloud, it was a chilling reminder what police officers face daily.

Snow Rogers Elem. School will be activated as a storm shelter at 4:00 pm today and will remain open until severe weather threat is over. Sincere appreciation to JEFCOED for the use of their building. Everyone should bring their own PPE (masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, wipes)

The City of Gardendale announced today a new partnership with Cardiac Solutions by purchasing 41 automated external defibrillators that will place an AED in every police vehicle, municipal building, and all city parks. “If we save one life, the cost will be well worth it.”
