Great mentoring doesn’t have to be overly complicated, but it also doesn’t happen automatically. Think about small actions you can take to learn a mentoring skill or adopt a new policy or practice with those you mentor. Great mentoring can result from a series of small steps.

Humbled by this award since mentoring is very close to my heart.. I have been very fortunate to be working with outstanding PhD students in my career. Many thanks to my all students and Pitt ChemE for the nomination.

Our University of Pittsburgh Pitt ChemE students shared their creative videos from reactive process engineering projects with ACS Athens (American Community Schools of Athens) and Evaggeliki Model High School of Smyrna in Greece! Many thanks to Chris Makedonas and I. Kerkines for their help on this international teaching activity!

Critical feedback is never fun, but the people who are willing to kindly tell you when something needs improvement are so valuable. Not only does their feedback help you to make your work better, but you also know you can trust those people when they say that something is good!
