That was quite the #NewsAtTen to direct: very much a feeling of the calm before the political storm. Stunning work from tom bradby and the whole ITV News team in Washington. ITV coverage of the presidential election starts tomorrow evening at 10.45pm.

Today I directed the coverage of Big Ben’s bongs and the national two-minute silence for #ArmisticeDay live into This Morning, followed by Lunchtime News and a very busy Evening News for ITV News. I love my job but I’m ready for a sit down and a cup of tea! #TelevisionDirector

I’m sorry. Large sensor/shallow depth of field for a select cameras only in sport doesn’t work. It’s incongruous, draws attention to the shot, and frankly, too often out of focus.
