“The vast majority of I.D.E.A. rights only apply to public-school. These rights are all lost when a student goes to a private school.” —Jessica Levin, my colleague this year Education Law Center on the false voucher scheme promises for students with disabilities newyorker.com/news/the-lede/…

When you sabotage your student's higher ed future but call it workforce development. Students deserve better. Teachers deserve better. Louisiana deserves better.

Voters will likely feel differently about that. There are folks who are going to support that type of punishment. Others are not. But we should understand what we are voting for. #lalege lailluminator.com/2025/03/17/juv…

All 4 minors involved in killing Linda Frickey went to adult prison under current law. One was convicted of murder. 3 others with attempted manslaughter. The women's prison didn't have space to house the minor girls separate from adults, which is required by law. 1/2 #lalege

First he claimed Louisiana needed sweeping tax reform and legislature passed it. Then he claimed tax reform would raise revenue and usher in an economic boom for the state. Now he's claiming Louisiana legislature has no money to give teachers.... The math ain't mathin'

FWIW: The dark money group that is supplying most of the money to Governor Jeff Landry's Make Louisiana Great Again PAC to help get Amendment 2 passed is the same group who paid for the live tiger from Florida at the LSU/Alabama game. #lalege lailluminator.com/2025/03/28/who…

THREAD: Under a new law, thousands of prisoners in Louisiana have been cut off from ever getting a chance at parole. Why? Because an algorithm said so. 1/

2/ The algorithm, called TIGER, focuses on immutable factors from a prisoner’s past — work history, age at first arrest, prior drug convictions — to assess risk of reoffending. Yet it fails to take into account anything a prisoner has done to rehabilitate themselves.

.Governor Jeff Landry is blaming a lot of other people -- George Soros especially -- for his constitutional amendments failing in March. Amendment 2 & 3 failed by 30 and 32 points. That means lots of conservative voters also voted against the amendments. #lalege #lagov

Really proud of my state senator Blake Miguez for championing this Michelle Obama initiative. Took him a long time to come around to an Obama era initiative. But better late than never?

If Governor Jeff Landry succeeds in putting more control over insurance rate increases onto Temple, then he can also shift blame for the insurance crisis onto Temple as well (and not have to take any responsibility for it.) #lalege
