A lesser-discussed use of polygenic risk scores (PRS): enriching clinical trial populations with high-risk individuals to boost event rates and thus reducing sample size, time, and cost🧬 This was tested in emulated trial settings👇[1/7]

A neat example of how tissue pQTLs & eQTLs can complement the interpretation of GWAS data for complex traits. The study links GWAS loci for kidney function & hypertension to gene & protein expression in kidney tissue. It's also a great resource for further downstream analyses.

Polygenic scores (PGS) have been developed for years, yet few are close to clinical use. Prostate cancer PGS is among the most advanced, with trials now evaluating clinical utility. A nice weekend read on the path to translation, with implications for other disease areas.

European ancestry predominance used to be a bottleneck in population genetics. More initiatives focus on other ancestries now. The Emirati Genome Program includes 👉whole genome sequencing in N=504,000 👉longitudinal EHRs for 426,382 of them 👉reconstructed pedigrees
