Restorative practice is 80% proactive and preventative and 20% reactive. Basically what I’m saying is that it’s the relationship, not the restoration that makes this thing work. People over programs. I’m sticking to it.

And teachers, PLEASE never ask a Physical Education Teacher to have a student sit during PE because they couldn't behave in your class. Your discipline is not their responsibility. Would they ask you to make a student sit out of a math lesson because of behavior in PE? NO

'Discipline really means to teach, not to punish'

Kids need consequences. This is different than punishments. A consequence is when students are held accountable for repairing harm, is logical & relates to the offense, and builds empathy. Punishments build fear or indifference & don't teach empathy. hackingschooldiscipline.com
