It's a constant source of embarrassment to residents of Birmingham that The Electric and the birthplace of Black Sabbath, The Crown, are shut and rotting away while authorities seemingly pass the buck. Civic neglect from everyone who could do something but won't.

Birmingham is horribly underserved for cinema. It also gave us Michael Balcon. This cinema ought to be the jewel of our second city, not a pile of rubble. Birmingham has a genius for shapeshifting. But it also needs fixed points. The Electric should be one of the firmest.
