Despite the biblical weather a great afternoon Berwick LitFest listening to Alistair Moffat. And couldn’t resist a new book. Warming up after a soaking with coffee and the lovely festival venue in sight. Ready for Katie Hale - novelist & poet 🌈 event tomorrow at Berwick Parish Centre.
Welcome to day 3 of our Autumn weekend! Today, we'll be exploring revolutionary history with Jonathan Healey (Jonathan Healey), enjoying the company of owls with Polly Atkin and diving into queer SFF with Inés G. Labarta! Book now: geni.us/LF24A
Great event Lancaster Litfest listening to Polly Atkin discussing The Company of Owls. Featuring a soft toy owl!
Book twenty-four of 2024 is a real privilege to have read. Katie Hale - novelist & poet 🌈 new manuscript, before it heads out into the world. And it’s beautiful, and haunting. #AmReading (in our half term holiday home.)
Little literary mini-break done. Brontë Parsonage Museum, plus book Edge of Solitude signing for Katie Hale - novelist & poet 🌈, plus Shibden Hall, Railway Children trains at Oakworth, and popped into @BookCornerHX plus a lot of reading!
Last night Katie Hale - novelist & poet 🌈 and I conducted “Horrible History” tours around the village to raise money for the local hospice. Safe to say we had a great night AND got some very odd looks in the local afterwards.
The same National Literacy Trust research shows that “Nearly twice as many children and young people who read comics in their free time told us that they enjoy reading compared with those who didn’t read comics in their free time (58.6% vs. 33.1%).” It is time to invest in comics/GNs.
Book twenty-seven of 2024 is the magnificent The Company of Owls by Polly Atkin with its stunning cast of Cumbrian wildlife. And wonderfully strange to remember almost all of the events playing out and then reading about them years later. #AmReading
