Hola, olá, hello 👋 One month in as UK Minister for Latin America and the Caribbean, I've been inspired by the warmth of the welcome and the depth of our partnerships. This region matters to the UK. I want to step up our relationships even further.

I am pleased that CERF - The UN's emergency fund has allocated $3 million to support Namibia’s drought response. This funding will provide vital humanitarian support for around 164,000 people. We are proud to be the largest contributor to CERF, and will continue to do all we can to save lives.

The UK welcomes United Nations OHCHR’s efforts to hold China to account for human rights violations, including in Xinjiang following its 2022 assessment. We call on China to engage meaningfully with the OHCHR and take forward its recommendations. ohchr.org/en/press-brief…

Today I met with Paul Kagame to discuss how 🇬🇧 and 🇷🇼 can continue to partner for success. We discussed the strong UK-Rwanda partnership on a range of issues including trade, climate and growth, and I welcomed Rwanda’s continued engagement with the Luanda peace process.
