Mourning the passing of Joan Simpson, a friend and colleague and one of the great journalists in San Joaquin County history. She was an editor for The Stockton Record features section for more than 50 years. RIP to a legend.

Rickey Henderson was one of a kind. RIP. Loved it when he came to Stockton to work with Ports’ minor-leaguers. That photo is a keeper Rodrigo.

Hard to believe it has been 40 years (today) since we lost Marilyn Klocke, an amazing mother of 4 sons, 1 daughter and 3 bonus daughters. The memories remain vivid.

Our 47th Valentine’s Day, celebrated in Kona, included proof of the beauty and power of the planet, from glorious oceanic sunsets to once-in-a-lifetime viewing of a volcanic eruption. There was food, Kona coffee and Hawaiian shirts. Looking forward to number 48 Kerry Klocke.

I stopped by the Jewish Food Festival on Sunday at Temple Israel and was fortunate enough to run into Jim Gold, my predecessor as editor of The Record so many years ago. I owe this man so much and found myself oozing with gratitude. Love you Jim!
