Africa’s first AI-powered adaptive power backup system can extend network uptime by up to six hours without the need for additional batteries or generators. Much needed in Zambia where places are suffering 20+ hours of no power daily due to load-shedding. techafricanews.com/2025/11/13/mtn…

#COP30 has two more days left, but clearly it's becoming increasingly unrealistic (and unwise) to expect COP-style processes to deliver in an era of rising energy and economic nationalism.

Rereading Herodotus' The Histories and being reminded of this account of Ethiopians living to be 120 years old👀 "...they were taken to a spring, the water from which smelt like violets and caused a man's skin, when he washed in it, to glisten as if he had washed in oil."

Recently met someone from Arizona who vacationed in Zanzibar this year and was so relieved there wasn't much sargassum as they felt their usual vacations to the Caribbean part of Mexico were getting soured by the smell. Coastal East Africa tourism may benefit from this issue.

the concept of a $3,500/night safari still blows my mind but this is like the 3rd project in Kenya this year by a U.S. company where the local community says they never approved. Whoever these companies hired to do stakeholder engagement clearly failed. nytimes.com/2025/11/24/tra…

Just realized PBS put out a special a few days ago on that viral Ethiopian - BBQ spot in Texas. The way the food and spices from Ethiopia remain so versatile and loved pretty much everywhere needs to be studied and celebrated! youtube.com/watch?v=MWyAzB…

"Due to the long timelines and high capital needs, climate and energy ventures have what we call a high price of poker relative to other ventures...the longer you play, the pricier it gets, and if you cannot ante up for the next round, you fold." 💯 mitsloan.mit.edu/ideas-made-to-…

We touched on this at the Africa Climate x Nature Salon in our AI series, but there seems to be a preconceived notion that Africa is a "free for all" when it comes to data capture when in actuality there's quite a few strong, model data privacy laws on record to protect consumers

For the first time, Namibia earned more tax revenue from other resources such as gold and uranium than diamonds. Very important as the value of diamonds continues to fall on the market and diversification is needed ASAP. I'm sure Botswana is watching... reuters.com/world/africa/g…

As the Africa tour goes on, it's clear to see which countries put more thought + creative vision into iShowSpeed's visit vs countries who just put a bunch of random activities together. I'll be curious if there's a tourism boost for the countries who've been more strategic.

So many crises of leadership happening across different spheres of the world. Supporting smart, ethical, and intentional leaders who can successfully solve the world's greatest challenges should be a top priority for any institution or person of influence right now.

Benin is trending on X and will surely be one of the African countries that sees a rise in tourism after ishowspeed due to how strategic they were tailoring every activity around their culture + unique nature experiences. They are also showcasing new investments today. Well done.

obsessing over how pristine Benin's coastline is and seeing there's a guy in Benin who started the country's first surf school and just posts videos of himself surfing to Highlife music. Check him out on IG: SamuelVox for real who is trying to go to Benin this year and surf 🏄🏾🌊
