This is legitimately one of the most insane videos out of the past 24hrs. Like a couple dozen kids being bombarded with war weapons in broad daylight for no fucking reason. We live in hell

I've written on political dissent & violent policing for 15 years, particularly in NYC. Compared to Tuesday night, I have never witnessed, at the scene of a protest, the use of police power so disproportionate to the type of demonstration taking place. theintercept.com/2024/05/01/nyc…

'This generation of youth have spent their entire lives in fear of having guns pointed at them in schools; what a disgrace for America that is now their own schools that are pointing the guns at them.'

Want to know why Columbia student organizers are often masked, and don't feel comfortable being identified in news media? Read g a b y on the immense doxxing apparatus punishing anyone who speaks out against Israel

I’m inside the Columbia campus now, and the pro-Israel crowd is yelling through the gates at students. “Stop wasting mommy and daddy’s money!” “You want to camp? Go camp in Gaza!” “Go back to Gaza!”

We spent weeks documenting airstrikes in southern Gaza and found that civilians were killed in areas the Israeli government had explicitly designated as safe zones. Our exclusive report👇

They want you to believe the Chair of the Philosophy department is the threat to western values and not the masked, armed man brutalising her for expressing anti-war sentiment

Trying to think of a precedent where US police cracked down this hard (beating, arrest) against student protesters whose main offence (that I’m seeing reported) is not dispersing/blocking what appear to be open areas. TBH this reminds me of scenes I witnessed in Egypt,Russia.

It is worth watching this CNN video from the moment Emory Econ Professor Caroline Fohlin came across the violent arrest of a protester on campus and asked the police, with shock, 'What are you doing?' That's all that prompted an officer to hurl her to the ground and handcuff her.

State repression is random. People often forget that 2 of the 4 students killed in the Kent State massacre weren't even protesters. Sandy Scheurer was simply walking to class & Bill Schroeder (an ROTC cadet) stopped to watch the protest out of curiosity. Both were shot to death.

Today in The Nation we have a piece by Lujayn, a 14-year-old girl in Gaza, that has floored me every time I've read it. It's about what happened when an Israeli bulldozer came to destroy the house she was staying in, and you must, must, must read it. thenation.com/article/world/…

Jesus Campos, a construction worker who knows the crew, said the men were from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico. They are in their 30s and 40s and have spouses and children.

“They are hard-working, humble men,” he said.

More updates to come for The Baltimore Banner.
