We had some awesome experiential learning opportunities this week! Mr. Hanson and Mr. Ross welcomed Peter Bjornson in to have students learn about how bills become laws, and Mrs. Lobban’s class got up close to a live lobster in culinary class! What an awesome learning community!

This week our Student for Community group assembled and delivered care packages to our newcomer Ukrainian students to draw attention to the one year anniversary of the war in Ukraine. The Winnipeg Free Press met with students to learn more about their work.

On Friday, 6 of our students represented KEC at the Ethics Bowl at UofM. After 3 tough matches, we ended on a high note, receiving high praise from the judges in our final match. Congratulations to all students and staff involved in this important work!

Thanks to our Black History Month Student Group for organizing a month of learning, celebration and cultural experiences for the month of February. We have been so fortunate to learn and celebrate with you!

Congratulations to our KEC team for winning 1st place at the Provincial Poetry in Voice Competition on Friday! Our team: Heart Barabad, Hamara Mekonnen, Bushra Adan. What a fantastic accomplishment!

Congratulations to Hailey Lee and Danielle Briden who were both recently celebrated at the Yes I Can Awards! They had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Education at the award ceremony and celebrate their achievements in the category of Transition.

Students in our Project-Based Learning classroom developed this impactful display for Red Dress Day on May 5 to recognize and honour MMIWG2S.

KEC students were invited to join Justin Trudeau as part of a federal announcement about fresh water at the Forks today. What an amazing opportunity to learn about Indigenous knowledges and see politics in action!
